Cavaliers vs. Heat Pick

It’s hard to find any positives for the Heat right now. Even without Darius Garland, the Cavaliers handed out the worst defeat in Miami’s history, dismantling the Heat in every way. Even more discouraging is the fact that the Heat shot 47% from three, an abnormally good mark, and still lost by 37 points.

It’s a bit surprising to see the spread this small given the Game 3 demolition. The Cavs have covered this spread in all three postseason contests, in addition to covering it twice more in the regular season. Garland is questionable to make his return, but that won’t matter. Cleveland should continue to excel behind an incredible defense, efficient three-point shooting, and solid bench play to sweep and cover.

Warriors vs. Rockets Pick

This series has been as unpredictable as it gets. The Warriors returned home without Jimmy Butler and still scored an 11-point win over a fully healthy Rockets squad. It did take a 36-point performance from Stephen Curry, but Golden State got it done against a Houston team that is proving itself to be exceptionally streaky.

King of that streakiness is the Rockets’ leading scorer, Jalen Green. Green went 4/11 from the field and 1/5 from three, failing to score double-digit points for the second game in the series. Despite what a couple of poor performances seem to convey, Green is an extremely talented scorer, and he’s in line for another rebound performance against a Warriors lineup that is without one of its best defenders in Butler.

Green was part of a larger problem for Houston’s offense. Not a single Rocket shot well from the field, as shown by the fact that they shot 39% from the field. Fred VanVleet was just as ineffective as Green, and Alperen Sengun couldn’t find any sort of rhythm despite an advantageous matchup. It’s extremely unlikely that the entirety of Houston’s team plays that poorly again. They should rebound in some capacity against a Warriors team that will likely be without Butler to cover at the very least.
