Boston Isn't Done Yet

The semifinals are quickly coming to a close, with only two series still alive. One of which could be decided tonight, when the Celtics head to Madison Square Garden to attempt to stay alive against the Knicks. Should the C’s win tonight, they will have an excellent chance at pulling out a 3-1 comeback, seeing as they head back home for Game 7. Additionally, we’ve got several moneymaking opportunities on what is admittedly a lackluster UFC card on Saturday afternoon.

Here’s what we've got today:

  • Celtics vs. Knicks Pick

  • UFC Quick Hitters

Celtics vs. Knicks Pick

This is the first time in the series that the Celtics enter the game as an underdog. They’ll have to contend with perhaps the most raucous crowd in the NBA and a fully healthy New York lineup to keep their season alive tonight.

A couple of huge factors went Boston’s direction on Tuesday to lead them to a win. First, a career game from Luke Kornet sparked a defense that was sorely missing a hobbled Kristaps Porzingis. Second, both Jaylen Brown and Derrick White had massive games, combining to score 60 of the Celtics’ 127 points.

To top it off, every single member of the supporting cast contributed nicely to round out Boston’s most complete game of the postseason. They won by a wide margin in Game 5, but they’ll need the vast majority of these factors to go their way once again in a much tougher environment than TD Garden.

On the other hand, it’s fair to expect several key elements to swing back in New York’s direction. Both OG Anunoby and Mikal Bridges were uncharacteristically bad, simultaneously putting up their worst games of the postseason in a crucial contest. As a team, the Knicks shot 35% from the field, a percentage that is so poor that New York probably couldn’t replicate it if they tried. We expect the Knicks to rebound in a big way in front of their home fans en route to a win and cover.

UFC Quick Hitters

It’s been a minute since we’ve put out some UFC picks, but on a fairly down weekend for American sports gives us the opportunity to get back to our basics. Let’s get right into it.

Lock of the Night: Rodolfo Bellato by KO (-160)

It isn’t often the lock of the night is -160, but that’s what happens when Paul Craig fights. Craig, Bellato’s opponent, is an expert in being knocked out, refusing to learn how to effectively strike over the course of his 19-fight UFC career. Bellato is a wrecking ball with excellent power, all but guaranteeing that Craig doesn’t make it to the final bell.

Upset of the Night: Julian Erosa (+146)

Erosa is a seasoned vet who should be closer to +110 in this matchup. He’s got knockout power and a well-rounded striking game that matches up extraordinarily well with Melquizael Costa’s kickboxing. On the ground, Erosa is an experienced technician who has multiple submissions to his name, negating what is usually Costa’s biggest advantage. We’re happy to lay the chalk at this price.

Final Leg: Sodiq Yusuff (+116)

We need one more leg to round things out, and Yusuff is the obvious choice. Like Erosa, he has a massive experience edge over his opponent, Mairon Santos. He’s a solid volume kickboxer who should dominate the majority of the fight by controlling the center and outworking Santos. It helps that Santos is pretty overrated, earning one UFC win over the winless Kaan Ofli and robbing Francis Marshall (of all people) completely blind on the scorecards. Yusuff is the much more quality fighter in this matchup.
